BPR Coaching for Endurance Events
We coach Endurance Athletes.

Our coaching programs consist of 4 distinct features:

Physiologic Biomarker Testing
- Objectively measures your strengths and weaknesses
- Helps set intensities for training
- Assesses improvement over time
- Helps athletes learn to observe biomarkers; including heart rate, cadence and breathing rate
- Lactate Balance Point and blood gas analysis is available
- Testing sessions are required of all BPR team members, and will be scheduled every 8 weeks, or more frequently by request

Training Plans
- We consider the on-line training plan as simply a starting point to setting a training regime
- We expect our athletes to learn throughout the coaching relationship, and be able to alter the goals of a workout based on their own biomarkers and the body’s response to training
- Your training program will be personalized, and your coach will help you adjust the program to fit your schedule and life through one interview session each month

Training Sessions
- Monthly - Endurance Education and Training Session
- You are invited to join us for a Team Endurance Training Session once per month
- A large part of this session revolves around an education component - ensuring you learn about your own physiology to make smarter choices in your endurance career
- We will coach you to monitor biomarkers during each training session, and adjust the workout for your ability, to ensure fun for everyone!!
- Sessions will include indoor spinning, core strength, flexibility, outdoor running, snowshoeing, pool swimming and open water sessions
- KELONWA BASED ATHLETES - Weekly Team Training Sessions
- Hosted in Kelowna at various training facilities
- The focus of the sessions will vary according to group needs
- Sport specific skills will be developed through weekly sessions
- Weekly sessions will include winter bike training, running skills sessions, strength and mobility sessions and swimming

Communication
- You will have a planning session with your coach after every Testing Session
- You will speak to your coach once per week to celebrate success and plan the following week of training
- All registered participants will have open access to the Balance Point Racing Forum, where athletes and coaches alike ask questions, give ideas, and share experiences.
Costs:
- INITIAL ASSESSMENT - $300
Includes - Blood lactate test, blood/gas analysis, review of bike fit/position, glucose testing, review of current training regimen
- ONGOING TESTING COSTS
- Blood/Gas Analysis (VO2 assessment) - $250/test
- Blood lactate (Lactate Balance Point) Physiologic Testing - $125/test
- A minimum of 3 additional tests must be prepaid during registration
- Lactate Balance Point Testing is a key part of our coaching tool kit. It allows us to understand how your body is responding to the training, and to make necessary changes to ensure continued improvements throughout the season
- Tests will be scheduled with each athlete every 8 weeks
- Additional tests can be scheduled upon request of the athlete
- Each test includes a review of results and planning session with your coach
- Coaching Program: (as described above) - $190 per month
- Training plan designed to overcome limitations
- One meeting with your coach each month to personalize changes to your plan
- One weekly e-mail or phone communication session with your coach
- Monthly Endurance Education and Training Sessions
- Weekly Team Training Sessions are included in this monthly fee (BPR special events are NOT)
- Team Training Sessions Only $100 per month
For those athletes who feel that regular sessions with a coach will let them develop their skills further. We offer a package of inclusion into ALL of our coached sessions in Kelowna - Swim, Bike and Run. Athletes must still adhere to our assessment policies, with a minimum of 4 tests booked throughout the year, to show athtlete and coach alike what changes are being made. This package does NOT inlcude facility entry for swims or other SPECIAL BPR events.

- Testing is a required part of the program. We will direct you to the nearest FaCT Certified Centre.
- Monthly Endurance Education Session when/if you are able
- All components of the Coaching Program, without weekly training sessions.
Notes:
- NO start-up fees
- All registered athletes must pay in advance for 4 LBP Testing Sessions and pre-pay for the first 3 months of the Coaching Program. Post-dated cheques will be accepted for the remaining months of the program.
- Coaching program fees are collected at 3 month intervals
- If you wish to cancel this service, 1 month notice is required.
- Education program begins November 2012
- Athletes may start working with a coach at any time of the year/season
Camps
Heat Acclimation Spin Sessions
Friday 4th February and Saturday 24th February
Bringing together a great workout and huge health benefits. Come and spin for 60 minutes in a state of the art Infra-Red studio, soaking up the humidity. Tia is followed by a 30 minute yoga class!! These sessions will kick you in the butt - then stretch away all of your weariness!
You need to preregister, so sign up early to avoid missing out!
Winter High Altitude Camp
February 17th-20th, 2012
Part of building structural fitness is working on improving your weaknesses during training.
The BPR winter Alti-Vol camp is designed to incorporate some environmental stress and a hit of volume to help push you to the next level.

Oliver Half Prep Camp
May 3-6, 2012
Come and join us in beautiful Oliver to get comfortable on the fantastic rural roads that play host to a number of great events each year. Get some early season open water swimming experience, and learn some skills and that will help prepare you to tackle the first Half Ironman event of the season.
May Long Weekend - Kelowna
May 17-21, 2012
This camp, set for the May long weekend, is aimed at providing athletes with skills and education for both Olympic and Half Ironman Events later in the summer. Coaches will cover the basics to help athletes navigat transitions, while offering the more experienced participants pacing and nutrition strategies. Join our experienced group of coaches on this excellent training and learning opportunity.
Two-x-elle 2012 - SOLD OUT
May 18-May 21, 2012
This women's only event has sold out each year. This will mark the fifth year that Ginny and our travel partner Magic Places has hosted this event in the incredible West Kootenay mountains. Limited availability, so please register early. As of January 30, only a few spots remain.
Axel Merckx Fondo Camp
June 8-10, 2012
This camp is specifically designed to help you prepare for the Valley First Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan. We will be exploring parts of the Okanagan that will be ridden during the event, talking about training ideas, and introducing participants to the intricacies of riding in groups. In addition, you will have the opportunity to book a private session with one of BPR’s coaching staff for a personal physiologic assessment to ensure your last block of training is specific to meet your needs.
Richters Classic Iron Camp
July 4 - July 8, 2012
Three to five days of high volume training, taking in as much of the Ironman course as you are prepared for. Based out of Osoyoos, this camp boasts warm open water training, and plenty of climbing over Richter's Pass!
