The Concept

Our purpose is to take the mystery out of endurance training.

Registered athletes will learn the theory and skills to enable them to direct their own programs and to build a successful long-term athletic development strategy.

Our knowledgeable and experienced coaches will guide each athlete on a monthly basis as they work towards specific targets for 2010 and beyond. Each module and camp will have a specific focus that will add to the knowledge base, while the monthly programs challenge physiological endurance.

Sport specific lactate testing at each monthly module will guide program modifications to ensure continued improvement for each athlete in the program.

Central to our philosophy is helping athletes to find a balance in their lives. This balance allows the pursuit of athletic excellence, without compromising work and family commitments. It can be done!

The Modules

Each Endurance Education Series Module will consist of three parts:

  1. Educational Seminar - Friday 5:00-8:00pm
These sessions will focus on the theory behind Balance Point Training and Racing Programs, and give you the skills and understanding to adapt training programs to your personal needs and goals.
  2. Lactate Testing and Program Review - Saturday by appointment
This testing will take place at every session, with the specific goal of ensuring ongoing athletic development. Testing provides information to assist with program modification as specific areas of weakness are identified.
  3. Training - Sunday 9:00am-3:00pm
The emphasis of the training sessions will be on fun activities that help keep you motivated throughout the long cold winter months and into the racing season. There will be a specific link between each training day and the preceeding educational seminar. Each training day will build upon the previous month’s session, and add to your knowledge base for future training during the month.

The Camps

We have created a list of seven unique training camp opportunities open to all athletes. The emphasis of these camps, as well as being on race preparation and training, will be on enjoying the natural beauty around us while exploring new locations to ride, swim, or run.

Destinations include local adventures in the Okanagan to assist in preparation for the Outback Triathlon Series of Events. However, we also have a number of destination camps to choose from, including a cycling adventure in Spain and a Spring Training Camp in Tucson, Arizona.

Whether you choose to enjoy all that we have to offer, or just attend a single camp, we are sure you will enjoy the amazing hospitality of our hosts, and the incredible training adventures that we will share with you.

The Endurance Education Series

By registering for all six Modules in the Endurance Education Series, you will be provided with a monthly training plan specifically geared towards one or more of the six Outback Events races scheduled for 2010. This plan will have detailed daily training sessions, covering all three disciplines. The information you acquire during the six modules will allow you to make informed training decisions on a daily basis versus blindly following a pre-written generic training plan. Our goal is to create a partnership between athlete and coach, where the athlete plays an integral role in program development.

The Endurance Education Series Camps will reinforce principles learnt during the modules through sustained training efforts. Race practices will be applied where athletes will have the opportunity to experience race event courses, and experiment with nutrition and race preparation. These camps are open to all interested athletes regardless of their skill level.

Sport specific training programs will be available for those athletes not competing in triathlon events. Our athletes have included cyclists, mountain bikers, cross-country skiers, adventure racers, and runners.
