This Hill climb is a 5.4km seven switch back corner climb up to Mt. Norquay Ski Lodge. The weather in Banff was unbelievable, blue sky 25 degrees.
My goal into the race was an even 13min. time with a podium finish. I did not quite reach my goal though finishing the 5.4km in 13.47min., which put me into 5th position, 42sec. behind the lead time.
I tried my best not to get too excited too early in the race, chancing of blowing up before i reach the top, i believe that worked. I will need to work on accelearting through the turns for next year and i should be able to reach my goal.
Well the 2009 Mtn bike and Road racing season is officially done, with a few cross races left in Edmonton this fall.

Solid finish to a very strong year.

I am interested to hear what you think was limiting you physiologically...did it feel like breathing was a limitation in particular? Or were there other factors?

In any event, we have some specific plans that you are working on, and I hope you can make it back for the High Performance meeting in September. Otherwise, we will have to arrange for you to join us via the internet.

Enjoy some recovery time, and we will look forward to hearing more in 2010.

What a fantastic year you have had Manuel!
You are now within arms reach of the best in the sport. With your consistent approach to training, next year will be pretty exciting.
It will be great to have your mentorship for our new young riders.
