Sunday was the XC Ramble at Aldergrove park , using the '' schools'' loop .

A few of us walked the loop clearing debris from the wind storms except a fallen tree that we left for the parks dept! It is a simple loop with two steep climbs and a few soggy stretches .

Last year I did not finish , it was hard, dry, and fast and I tore a calf muscle but this year I ran ''red line'' the whole way pacing a 10 year old girl , yes 10 ! She won the 19 and under by 4 mins !

In the end she dropped back to run with her mother who had dropped off the pace . But finishing only a few sec behind were it not for this she would have beat me by at least a minute.

Her mother and brother like her are from the Ocean running club. Pure talent.

And yes it rained but not really till after the race. I came 2nd out of 5 , they guy who beat me is big on running next for him is the Seattle marathon.

For me it;s Jericho Beach in two weeks , if it doesnt rain and freeze or snow !

Still working on next season Ginny  Smiley

Great job Al!
I think I know that girl!! Is she from Salmon Arm? If so, she's kicked my butt before too. I nearly lost a lung trying to stay ahead of her at the Larch hills race last year. I wouldn't want to race her a year older!
Hey, nothing wrong with 2/5. Congrats.
