Hi Everyone,

Now is the time when training increases that niggles start to rear their ugly heads.  My knees hurt. Just below the caps bilaterally. I first noticed they started to niggle 2 weeks ago at the very end of 140km bike. Then they were a bit tender on a run the other day but soon cleared up after about 20 minutes into the run.  Then yesterday when the tempatures went up, they started to ache out of the blue.  I did this weeks long hike today and they were letting me know they were not happy.  I took an ice bath and ibuprofen when I got home and I will ice them tonight so my question is, now what do I do?  Cut back on mileage in running? Biking? What is the problem here? This is a totally new issue for me.

Please offer your advice!

Hmmmm....

First thing I would check is bike position and cleat angle etc. If it bothers you after a long ride, possibly it's getting irritated if you are not tracking in a comfortable line. You could loosen your pedal up to allow more movement laterally so you can find the most natural line. Be aware of the natural position then move the cleats slightly to adapt to that angle.

You just changed your seat. Is it possible it's a little higher, or your position on the bike has moved?

Do you have a good physio? I think it's important to stick with the same physio so that you can put the pieces of the puzzle together over time.

Any ideas anyone?
