Yes...my big brother races as well...and tells a pretty good story...

It was another adventure on the Long Lake Triathlon, and another
victory in the master's age category for yours truly, despite some
challenging conditions.

It was a wet off-road triathlon, with some slimy trails, which led to
a major wipe-out on the bike course - evidence you can see on the
attached photo. One of the spectators asked me if I was mountain
biking or using my helmet to take core samples (as in mining!). Look
closely and you can see dirt and pine needles sticking out of my
helmet. I have a few bumps and bruises tonight, plus a bit of a sore
neck, which happens when you use your helmet and forehead to cushion
the impact of a fall at 40 km/hr. Fortunately it was wet clay and sand
that served as my face-plant landing strip. Once my head cleared, I
got back on the bike and gingerly made my way through the remaining
bike course, though I had some problems with my pedals and shoes,
which were caked with mud.

I finished off with a good run, and found that a shot of Red Bull
really helps for the last bit of the race. Again, a little slippery on
the hills and over the wet mud and roots.

That's what makes this my favourite race of the year - the adreneline
rush on the bike/run and the thrills and spills. Plus, I have a few
war wounds (road rash and bruises on the forehead, elbows, knees) to
show off at the office, and a good story to boot.

Tim!! You look RUGGED!!

I gotta say, now that you are wearing BPR kit, it's not nearly as impressive as when you win races in your 1980s Hot Tuna shorts and flat pedals...

For those that don't know Tim, he's a natural athlete that has driven Andrew crazy over the years, kicking butt with no real gear to speak of, and the majority of his 'training' consisting of reffing soccer, commuting to work on his bike, or using a dive suit in the lake.

Way to go Tim!!
