Anyone else feel like an absolute slug?

I've been ramping training for the last 3 weeks, and was focussed, determined, and consistent. Now I'm tired. That's good, but it's a strange feeling. The wind is out of my sails, and although I'm still training, I feel like a slug.

It's not new...This will be my 8th IM, and it's the same every time. The week or two prior, I wonder how I ever road 190km to prep, how I ever ran for a few hours in the park, how I ever swam down the lake for a few km. But we have, and we'll do it again. In fact we'll do it all in 1 day!!

Let your body respond to all the hard work you've done. If you have a chance to get extra sleep, do so. Be focussed for your final workouts, and eat like an athlete. Not massive calories, but quality nutrition.

Anyone else?

Glad I am not the only one.  I had a long physio session 2 days ago and IMS.  The last time I had IMS I felt great and couldn't stand that I needed to take it easy for 24 hours.  But this low energy has lasted 48 hours.  I got out for a run this morning pre-call and wow 45 mins felt like a long run.  It amazes me that even last weekend I did a 2 hour run/hike and felt relatively strong.  Now I can barely get off the couch.  And I keep falling asleep while watching TV.

Also, since yesterday I have been overcome with a crazy nervous energy.  I find myself stressing about work and other aspects of my life unnecessarily.  Finally I realized it was likely this race that is making me nervous.  Then I noticed the athlete guide for this year is posted.  It made me so nervous I made a few trips to the bathroom (sorry perhaps too much info).

Anyways, trying to eat healthy and drink lots of fluids.

Cannot believe it is just over a week away.  Feeling both excited and emotional.  Hope everyone elses taper is going well.  Court.

I like this explanation of tapering.

That is a great article.  Though I don't feel sluggish (perhaps because I have had so much unplanned rest over the past 2 weeks) I have a terrible case of taper madness second only to that of when I was tapering for Boston.  Last night I had a dream of some how the race officals figured out that I missed too many workouts and would not let me race. I think I am ready to get this show on the road.

IT is 6:30am and I am checking the Penticton weather report for the first of many times today.  Sigh.  It is going to be a long week.
