Here's one of my long time Idol's Anton Krupicka introducing the New Balance Minimus shoes. They look wicked!
If you've never heard about Anton, check out his blog at antonkrupicka.blogspot.com

I tried a demo pair on the other day. They are absolutely perfect...they feel like Vibram Five Fingers, but look way cooler. There will definitely be a staged process before you can run full tilt in these shoes, but if you started with some of the ideas, and a pair of New Balance 100s, this will be a great training shoe, and perfect for trail races by the end of summer.

New Balance has come on board again as a sponsor for 2011, so stay tuned for that official announcement, which will help make these shoes the standard for all BPR athletes.

If i race shirtless and go the full hippy will I be as fast as this guy?

On a more serious note, gradually learning to run in using minimalist shoes (the five fingers) has definitely helped my turnover increase and minimise my injury downtime. I am currently getting in two sessions of about 20 minutes a week in them and the cadence I have been able to sustain since starting down this path has increased from 87 when I started to being able to run 95 consistently for that period now.
The balance of my running is NB 904s , a great shoe for me and a far cry from the full orthotics I used to run in!

For a couple of weeks I did try running in them every workout but it led to some bilateral achilles tenderness. Next running goal is to build my neuro muscular endurance to the point I can sustain this 95 cadence up to 90+ minutes as I find a noticeable slowing the longer my runs get.

Great work Martin.

Once the injuries are well controlled, you can add one stride length session to the program, with the understanding that this session puts you at the highest risk of reinjury and you will need to be very disciplined in both your approach to the training and to the recovery.

These shoes will be perfect for my new plan to gradually work some short runs in the mornings before school... Because I have been totally removed from running the past months, I will be starting from scratch and what better way to build it back than with proper bio mechanics?

Very exiting product!
