We have a couple of athletes who will be no where near water for long stretches this winter. Swim cords are a great way to keep swim technique, stretch, range of motion, and coordination going.

I like this youtube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D37Ye_ADQ30
I think he must be from California...he's sooooo laid back.

Much like a treadmill, it's not all that exciting, but good music certainly helps. I simple workout could be using your music to guide your session aka 1 song drill, 1 song full stroke. It takes some time to get coordinated enough to do full stroke well, so you may need to start out with 2 minutes of full stroke, 5 min drill.

Using a cadence meter is really helpful for the full stroke, again, once you have the skill. You need to make sure the resistance is light enough that you can move through the stroke at quicker cadence.

Has anyone used cords, and got any good ideas?

Great post Coach G
I've put together a Ghetto Set Up with pull cords made out of surgical tubing that had limited success. It's clear from vid that the resistance has to relatively light in order to get good resitance and still offer a training effect. That vide has inspired me to crack out the cords again and give it another tri ... Get it ... tri  Kiss

I also think that this would make an excellent exercise to be done by the tri guys at our Thurs sessions ... especially for anybody that has an injury that precludes them from some of the Majo torture  Shocked

I have three sets of swim cordz that will be at Thursday session for people to try, and am happy to lend them to anyone who will be away from water over the winter break.
