Hey Shredmaster!! You are getting those cycling legs ready for the wall in St. George.

Just wanted to way I'm totally stoked today too, but for different reasons. I was no hero today. No shredding, no hammerfest, but a super solid session. I chickened out of riding around the lake in the wind on my own today. Just didn't feel like being that far from home today. So I did a 2 hour steady trainer ride, a little stronger than last week, then did a 2 hour run at Kal Park. This is my longest run yet, and though it is a long way from the marathon I'll be running in just over 3 weeks, it was super solid, and felt fantastic. I'm getting excited now. I'll be on the 'light' end of trained for this race, but going in happy and healthy.

The Quail only rode for 5.5 km on sunday, so he Shredded himself today with a 5.5 hour super solo hammerfest, culminating by dropping everyone on the steep col de west kelowna!!  Quail shredded himself!!

Good going everyone!

Email from Gary Horsting inviting all to the Vernon Weekend Shredfest ...

With the COBRA Century/Robb's Ride/Gran Fondo rides and other events on the horizon we are having a time change to 8am starting this Saturday with longer distances planned.

The next 3 Saturday's are rides will be about 3 1/2 - 4 hours long. Here are the planned routes. These info is also posted on our website: Vernon Cycling Group

This Saturday April 16th:
Vernon/Salmon River Rd/Yankee Flats back Salmon River Rd to Deep Creek/Schubert Rd/Otter Lake/Larkin X/Hwy 97/Greenhow/PV Rd to Bean Scene...COFFEE. This is about a 108K route
April 23rd:
Vernon/Oyama/Okanagan Centre/Predator Ridge...COFFEE.  We will take the same way out as Gran Fondo Vernon via Commonage Rd/Bailey Rd/Hwy 97/Oyama Rd/ Okanagan Centre Rd/Carr's Landing/Commonage/Predator/Bean Scene. This is about 115K

April 30th:
Vernon-Enderby-Grindrod-Grandview Bench
Vernon/Armstrong/Enderby/Grindrod/Grandview Bench/Deep Creek Road/Otter Lk Rd/Back to Vernon
About 117K

I will be posting this on our website later today with Google Map links of the route for you viewing pleasure.

Also the early sign ups for Gran Fondo Vernon  is encouraging and it looks possible that may may hit a 100 riders this year. Yahoo lots of riders to share the pain with.
This year you are required to sign up on the Gran Fondo Vernon website entry form so I can plan how much food and drinks we will need.

See you all on Saturday

 Gary
