What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)?

Facts on Fascia:
-Fascia is a soft fibrous tissue that surrounds and connects muscles, bones, joints, nerves, organs, blood and lymph vessels
-it is a continuous web-like sheath surrounded with an interactive gel type substance, together filling the void between all other structures
-when healthy, it moves fluidly, is loose and reactive to tension and pressure
-is a communicative and dynamic tissue
-continuously adapts its shape to allow free movement of the body
-can develop adhesions, therefore movement restriction, in response to aging, injury, stresses, etc.
-when unhealthy, causes early muscle fatigue, feelings of stiffness and leads to motor and postural compensations
What does Fascial Stretch Therapy do?
-re-organizes the fascia through pain-free assisted stretching on a table
-incorporates passive range of motion to relax the neuromuscular system
-uses modified PNF techniques (contract-release) that enhance the relaxation of the muscle and its stretching capacity
-involves gentle traction to increase joint space and overall flexibility
-is pain-free and results in immediate, long-lasting improvements in mobility, function and performance
Benefits of Fascial Stretch Therapy:
-improves tissue elasticity
-improves posture and functional capacity
-helps chronic pain symptoms disappear
-reduces risk of injuries
-enhances physical performance (strength, power, speed, coordination, endurance and flexibility)
-improves ability to recover from intense training and competition
-promotes well-being
