Mount Revelstoke Hill Climb

Last weekend I participated in my first race of the year the Mount Revelstoke Steamer Hill Climb.
Great race if you like 27km of uphill like me. The weather was also a dream blue sky 28C.
My start time was near the end with 30 second interval start times. I started one spot ahead of Olav getting slowly into a rhythm and accelerating up the hill, until a very short time later I get passed like I was standing still. Well, I increased my speed to match Olav’s, but that didn’t last too long, I still needed to survive another 26km of uphill and pacing somewhat until I hit at least the 20km mark. I then kept my breathing and HR somewhat under control until the last five km where I gave it everything I had and more.
I ended up finishing the 27km 3200ft climb in a time of 1:14:20 fourth place overall, five minutes behind the leader which I believe is a new record.
I am definitely satisfied with my result and had a wicked time climbing Mount Revelstoke and will be back next year to improve my time!

So, the question is...respiratory limitation, muscle strength limitation, or cardiac?
Time for some mroe testing to start teh training for 2012 on the right foot.
I am crossing my fingers for your house to sell this week, so we will see you back where you belong in the Okanagan, and training with the team again!
