Calling all other Junior Members,
I wanted to start a discussion on what races everyone is planning on doing. If we are both planning on doing out of town races we might be able to subsidize the cost a bit with car pooling, accommodation etc.

Hey Quinn did you want to go to Magog Quebec for a race there, cause I was thinking of racing, but if you want to split accommodation, I know they have a junior race there also. like it is completely up to you I am still thinking it over also.

Hey Alex,

So far it looks like I might be going to Edmonton and I am thinking about doing a few of the spring series, and pretty much all the local races. As much as I would like to go to Quebec, that would be out of my budget. I am also looking at the junior races that are being put on by Axel Merckx. I think thats pretty much my race schedule for the season. Are you thinking of doing any cycling races or are you going to go all out on triathlons?

I'll come to Edmonton if I qualify! I'm looking at local races mainly, besides the Oliver and osoyoos halfs. Trying to save my money.

I like the idea of both of you, along with Peter O'Brien, Marin, and Scott, taking in as many of the local races as possible. I think there is a HUGE benefit to racing short course triathlons, to practice the transition skills needed to race at a higher level, and give you a chance to set and follow specific race plans for each event.

The cycling events are an EXCELLENT opportunity to practice bike handling skills, and develop functional skills and power required to race at the elite triathlon level, where drafting is legal, and pack riding plays a huge role in the ultimate success.

Quinn, I admire your willingness to put this out there. Please post a list of potential junior races and their dates, so we can add them to the BPR calendar, and work towards having all the BPR juniors attend en masse. The triathlons will be more fun knowing that you have team mates in the same event, and the cycling events will be a greta opportunity to work with each other towards ultimate team success.

Kal Rats sprint tri - 8:30 AM June 24th

Kelowna Apple tri (multiple races, we need to decide on one) - August 19 - 21

Penticton Boston Pizza tri - July 14th

Kamloops spring sprint - may 6th - does this overlap with robb's ride?

Just some suggestions... These would all be super cheap since they are within driving distance. Lots of carpooling, team bonding, and fun! Let me know which ones you might be interested in, as well as if they conflict with any other events we are committed to.

I'd love to give my two cents, but planning my race schedule has been tough since the cycling bc website race calendar is blank...
Thoughts?
Can't wait till it warms up!

Bare Bones is the day before the Salty Dog, and could be a GREAT event for those not racing th Dog, or for others who want a good weekend of racing.

Cycling BC is still putting together the race schedule and hopefully will have their site updated soon.

Spring Series is definitely on and they have added some races that extend into late spring!  Escape Velocity will also be updating their site soon.

Spring Series:
March 4, 11, 17-18, 24-25 (stage race) - organized by Escape Velocity
March 31, April 14 - part of Spring Series, organized by Phoenix Velo
May 5, 12 - organized by Escape Velocity
