BPR Team Sweeps Xterra Alberta!!!

Mon, Aug 24th

The off-road triathlon hosted by a great group of volunteers, and a very organized crew of race officials laid the foundation of what turned out to be a BPR sweep of the men's podium. Luke, Joel, and Mike finished as the top three competitors on a very fast, fun course.

The two senior members of the High Performance Team, Mike and Luke, exited the water together about 90 seconds behind Joel, who posted on of the fastest times of the day. It took them nearly 9km to reel him in on the bike, and the three worked hard to put some distance on the rest of the field. As they came into transition, Luke and Mike were still close together, followed by Joel about 3 minutes back. Joel had the fastest run of hte day, to run past Mike into second overall. Luke ran well to maintain his top spot, and Mike was satisfied with an injury free run to finish 3rd.

There were tons of BPR members racing alongside these guys, and included great performances from Cindy, Myra, Ginny, Danny, Brock and Andrew. And we welcomed two new members to the team, with Grayson and Pete, who have been guided along by Joel this year, and both put in very strong finishes, despite having very little MTB experience. Their enthusiasm certainly lifted the spirits of the team, and the event had a great positive feeling to the whole week-end.

It was fun to see the High Performance team dominate this race, and there was great comeraderie between all the team members.

Look for photos and race reports to be posted on the forum soon...
