Im sitting here in my basement suite wondering what am I doing hmmm a blog ?? huh this seems weird. But honestly maybe its the norm? What do I know I am a old man right...... If you don't know me I give my self a hard time :( in this order.... age,.. body shape... weight... riding skills and why at 38 years old im trying to race young fit punks.
These are just some of the things I think about on my bike rides. After working two and a half years with Giant Bicycles running the western Demo tour I decided to take it easy and settle back into Kelowna after living on the road... I was given a great opportunity back at Kelowna Cycle to work in the shop as a mechanic. The opportunity was great!!! And what was another deciding factor was working with the Athletes from Balance Point Racing. Pat the owner of Kelowna Cycle got me on a Cannondale 27.5 Jekyll Enduro bike that I'm going to be riding this season I went with a size large carbon frame for racing. The idea around this is to get some stability in the wheel base. The downfall is turning at low speeds.... Nothing some nose wheelie turns cant take care of ;) SO far its a great bike I enjoy how stable it is and the lefty fork is uber stiff. All my friends make fun of me for riding it but its a neat piece that makes for good conversation. Also in the hatch is a direct sponsorship with Nobl wheelshttps://noblwheels.com/. A small company based out of Abbotsford B.C producing carbon wheels at affordable prices for the working enthusiast. The wheelset I will be racing and training on will have custom Nobl hubs with sprag clutch system and 360 degree instant engagement. The rim is a 28 hole 33mm wide 27mm internal width. The 2016 season I decided to invest in my personal health and well being. After having a pretty good race season last year I thought what will it take next to become a better racer.... After talking to a few friends I decided to contact Balance Point Racing. To my surprise I was invited into the team. I was really surprised to be honest . Andrew and Luke have been really helpful. The last 3 months have been somewhat easy as far as specific training goes. And my recent 5-1-5 test have shown some good improvement in what was needed to build a good endurance base. For me this has been such a neat learning experience so far and seeing the data has got me more motivated to work harder. For now its time to get some sleep I hope to keep things updated while I fit in training and work and all that other stuff.
